  • National Immigration Agency offers “Green Lucky Bags” to Muslims at the Eid al-Fitr Festival

The "2023 Eid-al-Fitr in Taipei " was hosted in Taipei by the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government on Sunday, April 23 at Daan Forest Park. A booth for the "Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program" was set up by the NIA Taipei City Service Center and the Taipei Specialized Corps. National Immigration Agency also prepared a "Green Lucky Bag" symbolizing vitality and blessings to celebrate with Muslim friends from all over the world. Indonesian interpreters were invited to be the hosts of the game at the booth. In addition, it also promoted and helped new immigrants who wanted to return to their home country to understand the program.

  • Long-distance teacher training courses to resolve the shortage of new immigrants' language teachers

The Ministry of Education promoted the "Long-distance Live Teaching Training Program for New Immigrants' Language Courses" (新住民語文課程遠距直播教學計畫), effectively resolving the shortage of new immigrants' language teachers in schools. The Taipei course will currently begin in May, and the registration starts from now until April 28. The courses cover using online resources, creating instructional presentations, using distance learning software, etc. One can continue to take the "Chinese Long Distance Teaching Teacher Examination for New Immigrant" (新住民語文遠距教學師資甄試) after finishing the course in order to become a long-distance online live broadcast instructor. The required registration nationality is one of the following: Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, or the second-generation immigrant identity.

  • Zhonghe Precinct of NTPD urge the public to guard against fraud on the Buddha's Birthday event

The Zhonghe Precinct of the New Taipei City Police Department (NTPD) propagandas fraud prevention at the 2023 Buddha's Birthday event in Huaxing Street to improve new immigrants' fraud awareness and protect their own rights and interests. The Zhonghe Precinct also highlighted five typical fraudulent practices, including online shopping, phony investments, defrauding installment payments, online dating—or using false identities of friends. It is believed the propaganda would help new immigrants to understand the many types of fraud that may be used, increase public knowledge of fraud. The director of Zhonghe Precinct asked for all investments to be done legally and to avoid being defrauded by inflated claims of huge earnings and loss-free trading.

  • Migrant Workers Academy in Taoyuan City to assist migrant workers in adaptation and skill development

Department of Labor, Taoyuan City Government continuously organizes the "Migrant Workers Academy" (移工學苑) courses in 2023 to assist migrant workers in adaptation and work in Taiwan and to improve their knowledge and abilities.

The course will offer a Chinese-English conversation class, invite qualified bilingual lecturers to teach, assist migrant workers in using basic Chinese and English, and more. The training will impart financial knowledge to migrant workers, including how to create accounts, exchange foreign currencies, and perform other financial transactions. Participants may be any migrant workers who are resident lawfully in Taoyuan City. The deadline for registration is May 14.
