Generative AI has brought greater convenience to daily life, but it has also been misused as a new tool to harm children and teenagers. Recent observations show that some platforms combine AI face-swapping with so-called “one-click undressing” technology. By simply uploading a photo and paying a fee, users may generate highly realistic inappropriate images, even specifying particular individuals and scenarios — placing minors at serious risk.
Even if such images are fabricated and not originally photographed by the person involved, the psychological impact can be just as damaging as real images once they are circulated. Victims may experience long-term anxiety, shame, and distress, affecting school life and personal relationships.
Online dating and video interactions have also become common sources of risk. Recent cases indicate a noticeable increase in male victims seeking help in incidents involving recorded explicit video chats and sexual extortion. In many situations, individuals are lured into private video interactions, secretly recorded, and then threatened with demands for money or gaming credits. These cases highlight that such risks are not limited to any specific gender.
In addressing AI-related and online dangers, open communication and guidance are often more effective than strict prohibition alone. Parents are encouraged to discuss online habits with their children, establish clear agreements about not uploading personal photos casually or engaging in private video chats, and reassure them that they can seek help from trusted adults whenever something feels wrong.
