The 2026 New Taipei City Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival won gold in the Cultural Heritage Design category of the 2026 TITAN Property Awards, following its gold at the BETTER FUTURE 2025 Sydney Design Award. The winning design features hundreds of sky lanterns, a horse-shaped main lantern and a horse-themed light projection show introduced for the first time.
The festival combines cultural traditions with landscape design, using hundreds of lanterns rising into the night sky to create a distinctive mountain-town scene. The TITAN Property Awards covers architecture, landscape, interior design and property development, with this award recognizing the festival's cultural presentation and landscape planning.

The festival incorporates Pingxi's mountain scenery and lantern blessing tradition. After dark, lanterns rising above the valley create a distinctive festival view. Pingxi also preserves its mining heritage and railway settlement, making the festival an important way for visitors to experience local culture and its connection with the landscape.
Founded in 1999, the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival is now in its 28th edition. This year's event features a horse-shaped main lantern and, for the first time, a horse-themed light projection show, giving the traditional lantern culture a new visual presentation.
