The National Immigration Agency&rsquos Chiayi City Service Center recently held a family education course for new immigrants. Pan Yu-Shan, a professional from the Chiayi Family Education Center and a multicultural lecturer for the NIA, was invited to share her insights and techniques on managing a successful marriage. The event attracted many new immigrant participants.
Director Huang Yan-Xun of the Chiayi City Service Center stated that Pan Yu-Shan, who has lived in Taiwan for over 20 years, not only promotes multiculturalism but also founded the &ldquoNew Xiangyang Association&rdquo in Tainan. Through various courses, she has supported new immigrants in adjusting to life in Taiwan &mdash her dedication is admirable. In this talk, she shared her marriage experience, resonating with the audience.
Pan, who holds a master&rsquos degree in counseling, used the metaphor of "Jenga" to describe marriage: "Every positive interaction between a couple is like a stable building block, reinforcing the relationship negative emotions, however, can topple everything." She further explained the &ldquoFive Love Languages,&rdquo including giving gifts, spending quality time, acts of service, words of affirmation, and physical touch such as holding hands or hugging. She encouraged couples to learn each other&rsquos love language to build a harmonious marriage.

As part of the course, the organizers arranged a &ldquo4D Jelly DIY&rdquo activity, where participants created jelly artworks shaped like mermaids, flowers, and more. The colorful results wowed attendees, who exclaimed, &ldquoThey&rsquore too beautiful to eat!&rdquo Pan said that while jelly making is not difficult, it tests a family&rsquos coordination, touch, and sense of aesthetics. Completing the task together brings not only sweetness but also a deep sense of accomplishment.

The Chiayi City Service Center hopes to continue helping new immigrants adapt to life in Taiwan through diverse activities, fostering family harmony and building happy homes together.
