The East Rift Valley National Scenic Area Administration has officially launched new cycling travel products under its “Xuxing Valley” brand on December 15, collaborating with multiple travel agencies to provide diverse route options based on travelers' interests, physical ability, and preferred duration. The program encourages visitors to experience the charm of Hualien–Taitung through a slow-travel approach.
The new series centers on low-carbon travel, featuring the Yufu Bikeway and the unique tectonic scenery at the boundary of the Eurasian and Philippine Sea plates. Partner travel agencies integrate signature attractions across the region, including Liyu Lake, Hualien's Guangfu Sugar Factory, Danongdafu Forest Park, County Road 193, the Yufu Bikeway plate boundary landscape, Chishang's golden rice fields, Provincial Road 197, and East Coast scenery, creating routes that blend nature, culture, and photography.
Director Hsu Tsung-Min noted that the program's strength lies in diversified route design. Options include beginner-friendly rides, photography itineraries, cultural tours, and combined coastal-valley routes, enabling first-time cyclists, families, and experienced riders to choose their ideal pace.
To promote sustainable travel, the first 100 participants who register will receive a limited “Xuxing Valley” water bottle. The administration hopes cycling will become a leading sustainable tourism model in the region and invites travelers to discover the authentic beauty of the valley at a gentle pace.
