As spring arrives, green plums enter harvest season, and a range of experiential activities are taking place across Nantou. These events allow visitors to experience plum picking and processing firsthand, with the festival in Xinyi Township drawing strong public interest and boosting awareness of local agricultural products.
A key feature is DIY plum-making, where participants learn preparation and preservation techniques by making crispy plums. Many visitors travel from other regions to take part. The activities also include family-oriented classes and interactive games, helping participants understand the journey of plums from farm to table.

In culinary use, plums are widely used in dishes and processed into drinks, snacks, and sauces. Their sweet and sour flavor offers versatility in everyday meals. With growing health awareness, plum products rich in minerals and organic acids are gaining popularity.
Additional activities are scheduled for May 2 and 3 at the Plum Dream Factory, featuring hands-on cooking sessions led by an award-winning chef using fresh local ingredients, with limited participation per session.
The plum season will continue through mid-May, with related DIY activities also held across Taiwan by local agricultural associations, allowing more people to experience plum culture even outside Nantou.
