July 5: CECC confirms 31 more COVID-19 cases, including 28 domestic cases and 3 imported cases

On July 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 31 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 31 new cases, 28 are domestic and the other 3 are imported. The CECC also announced one death today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 28 domestic cases, nine are men and the other 19 are women, aged between under 5 to 99 years old. Regarding those domestic cases, Taipei City reported most cases, at 15, and New Taipei City had the second highest number, at 5. Taoyuan City reported 3 cases; Miaoli County reported 2 cases, and Pingtung County, Keelung City and Hsinchu County reported 1 case each.

The CECC pointed out that the one death (Case #12752) announced today was an over 70-year-old female with chronic diseases and history of contact with other confirmed cases.


Regarding the three new imported cases, Case #15152 is a Taiwanese girl under the age of five. Case #15155 is a Taiwanese man in his 20s. He returned to Taiwan from the UK on July 1. He developed nasal congestion, an itchy throat, and a mild fever on July 2. Case #15164 is a Taiwanese man in his 50s. He returned to Taiwan from Saudi Arabia on July 2.

The CECC reported that a total of 1,472,827 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,455,971. There have been a cumulative total of 689 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 689 deaths, 681 are domestic cases and the other 8 are imported.

 

 The CECC reminds the public to pay attention to personal hygiene such as washing your hands regularly, wearing your masks, reducing unnecessary outings, and avoiding crowded areas especially those that are considered to be high-risk. Cooperating and following these epidemic prevention guidelines will keep the land and its people safe.
