US President Donald Trump stated on 28 November that if he returns to office his administration will move to implement a permanent suspension of immigration from what he described as Third World countries. He said the current immigration system has placed a heavy burden on American society and public institutions and argued that major policy adjustments are necessary to restore normal government operations.
In remarks posted on social media Trump claimed the foreign population in the United States has reached tens of millions with many relying on social welfare programs. He argued that migrants from politically unstable countries bring complex challenges that strain public resources education healthcare and local security while contributing to housing shortages and fiscal pressure.

Trump further said his proposal would include a review of recent illegal entry approvals and the revocation of documents that do not meet legal standards. He also outlined plans to cancel federal benefits and assistance for non citizens and to strengthen deportation and removal measures for individuals deemed to pose risks to public safety or social order.
He stressed that these initiatives are aimed at reducing illegal and disorderly migration preventing abuse of the system and restoring domestic governance and social stability through stricter immigration controls.
