The Tourism Administration's weekday domestic travel accommodation subsidy began on September 1. In addition to the central government's accommodation discounts, local governments and accommodation providers have introduced extended-stay offers, consecutive-night discounts, tours and consumer incentives to encourage travelers to avoid weekends.
In Hualien, eligible travelers can receive additional benefits of up to NT$7,000. Taitung offers discounts for a third night, with different incentives for Green Island and Orchid Island. Tainan has 36 participating accommodations offering a free third night when guests stay for three consecutive weekdays. Taoyuan offers more than 20 discounted light-travel itineraries, while Taichung has “1+1” and “2+1” accommodation offers. Penghu also offers cultural tours, community experiences and free bus rides.
The weekday accommodation subsidy runs through November 30, or until funds are exhausted. As of September 1, 2.22 million people had completed registration. In general areas, the maximum subsidy is NT$800 for the first night and NT$1,200 for the second night; in offshore islands, it is NT$1,000 for the first night and NT$1,500 for the second.
In addition, registration for the birthday voucher subsidy will close at 5 p.m. on September 8. Results will be available at 11 a.m. on September 9, and eligible recipients can use the voucher from September 10. The Tourism Administration reminds travelers that local offers and eligibility requirements vary. Details are available through the National Travel Subsidy Application System and Taiwanstay.net.tw.
