Taiwan's annual National University Games will take place from May 2 to May 6 at National Central University in Taoyuan. The torch relay officially began today (April 13), marking the start of the countdown and building early momentum for the competition.

This year's theme, “Run Fearless Run Green,” highlights both athletic excellence and sustainability. Event materials are designed with recyclable and reusable components to reduce waste, with plans to repurpose items into practical goods after the games conclude.

A total of 21 sports will be featured, including track and field, swimming, ball games, and martial arts. Notably, esports has been added for the first time as an official competition category.

The torch relay will travel around Taiwan over five days, connecting universities and incorporating local cultural elements along the route. The relay serves not only as a ceremonial tradition but also as a platform for interaction and engagement.

As the opening approaches, student athletes across the country are entering their final preparation phase. The event reflects both competitive spirit and the evolving diversity of modern sports culture.
