SpaceX&rsquos Fram2 mission marked a major milestone in commercial human spaceflight, completing the world&rsquos first crewed polar orbit with a splashdown off California on April 4. Financed by crypto billionaire Chun Wang, the mission carried four polar exploration enthusiasts &mdash Wang, Jannicke Mikkelsen, Rabea Rogge, and Eric Philips-on a three-day orbital journey passing directly over the North and South Poles.
Despite motion sickness affecting the crew early on, they completed 22 experiments, including studying female hormone changes in space, wearing wellness trackers, growing mushrooms, and capturing rare aurora images. Fram2&rsquos return was historic &mdash the first SpaceX human landing on the U.S. West Coast. The crew even tested their ability to exit the capsule unaided, simulating emergency scenarios.

The mission was also symbolically linked to Svalbard, where the team first met. It demonstrated how private spaceflight can explore new scientific and geographic frontiers, offering fresh insights into human adaptation in microgravity.
