NT$299 Monthly Passes Only for Taichung City Residents

A preferred transportation program has been introduced by Taichung City for its residents. One may ride the MRT, city buses, and shared bicycles for just NT$299. It will be a part of the Taiwan Railway as well. The cost is Taiwan's lowest plan available.

Taichung City has started a strategy to promote the Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, and Miaoli commuter metropolis. Only NT$699 is required to get a monthly pass for commuting to various counties and cities. For residents of Taichung, the monthly commuter pass is only available for NT$299. Taiwan Railway was not included in the first preference plan, which many commuters found inconvenient. The central government listened to local opinions when the director of the Transportation  Bureau of Taichung City Government affirmed the subsidy program. Taiwan Railways will now be included in the NT$299 commuter monthly pass plan that is now only available to residents of Taichung. It will be deployed nationwide in July in accordance with the general strategy.

A commuter monthly pass of Taichung City costs NT$599, while a cross-county commuter pass with Changhua, Nantou, and other locations costs NT$999, both of which are available to residents of other counties outside Taichung. According to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, R.O.C., Taichung City's physical card for commuter monthly passes, which initially use electronic tickets to ride, will work with appropriate public transportation vehicles to build mobile payment ticket inspection equipment and launch mobile payment commuter tickets concurrently to offer people a variety of rides. Way.

In the future, the government will cooperate with relevant public transportation in Taichung City to build mobile payment ticket inspection equipment for virtual and actual mobile payment commuter tickets and provide the general public with a variety of payment methods.
