The Wenshan District Police, Wanfang Substation, received a report from a woman, approximately 51 years old, surnamed Jiang, who had joined an investment LINE group. Due to her lack of caution, she was persuaded to fall into a stock investment scam. She had paid more than NT$4 million in total. The scammer claimed that she needed to provide financing to withdraw cash from the platform. They then directed her to a loan company, where they fraudulently convinced her to borrow money. When the deal failed, they demanded a penalty fee, leading her to realize she had been scammed.

After receiving the report, the Wanfang Police immediately collaborated with Jiang and formed a task force to track down the suspects. Jiang pretended to cooperate with the scam group to deliver NT$1.25 million as a recharge fee. Officers were stationed at the scene and arrested the money collector, a 26-year-old man named Guo, as he was about to collect the cash. He was subdued and arrested, and related evidence was seized. The investigation revealed that Guo had previously been caught for similar offenses but continued to work as a money collector. After the investigation, he was transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office for further prosecution on charges of fraud, money laundering, and forgery. The project team successfully apprehended the withdrawal driver and seized related evidence (Image / Source: Taipei City Government website)

The Wenshan Police urge everyone to remain alert, as fraud tactics constantly evolve. Never fall for scammers' tricks, especially those promoting high profits, quick returns, and "guaranteed profits." If you receive suspicious messages or calls, please call the police hotline 165 for fraud consultation or 110 for emergency services.
