The North Concourse of Terminal 3 at Taoyuan International Airport officially began trial operations on December 1, welcoming its first group of passengers. Extending from Terminal 2’s Gate D10, the North Concourse adds eight new gates, D11 through D18. On the first day of trial operations, one departing flight each from China Airlines, STARLUX Airlines, and EVA Air was arranged for testing, serving routes including Sapporo and Bangkok.
According to Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, the North Concourse measures 738 meters in length, with a ceiling height of 13 meters. Designed as an open waiting area with large glass curtain walls, the space allows passengers to observe apron operations while waiting for boarding. The interior features bright color tones, optimized passenger flow, and upgraded seating to enhance comfort. Passengers who experienced the new space noted improved openness, smoother movement, and a more international airport atmosphere.

The airport company stated that after the North Concourse is fully in operation, it is expected to increase Taoyuan Airport’s annual passenger handling capacity by approximately 5.8 million passengers. During the initial phase, flight allocations will prioritize national carriers, focusing on routes to North America, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia–New Zealand, with rolling evaluations to optimize operational processes.
Construction of Terminal 3 began in 2017, with a total investment exceeding hundreds of billions of New Taiwan dollars. According to official plans, the South Concourse of Terminal 3 and a multifunctional building are expected to be fully completed in 2027. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications noted that as Terminal 3 gradually comes online, Taoyuan Airport’s overall annual passenger capacity is expected to reach approximately 45 million, further strengthening its role as a national gateway and enhancing international competitiveness.
