In response to digital transformation and the rise of artificial intelligence, New Taipei Labor University has gradually opened registration for its second-term courses of the current academic year since mid-January, focusing on AI skill development to help workers and citizens prepare early for future careers. Course registration is open from January 8 to February 23. Workers whose household registration, residence, or workplace is in New Taipei City may register with priority via the “New Taipei Labor Cloud – Labor University” platform, while non-worker residents may sign up on a waiting list.
According to the New Taipei City Department of Labor, AI technologies are increasingly becoming part of daily operations across industries. This term features nine AI-themed courses covering practical workplace applications of generative AI, everyday AI usage, and AI-assisted Excel data analysis. The university has also introduced the “iPAS AI Application Planner” certification course for the first time, helping participants build systematic AI application skills and connect with a national-level certification to enhance career development.
In addition to AI courses, the Labor University also offers a wide range of professional skills and labor education courses, including English, Japanese, Korean, accounting, plumbing and electrical maintenance, as well as courses on the Labor Standards Act, labor insurance, and labor dispute analysis. These courses help participants strengthen professional expertise while improving their understanding and protection of labor rights.
Courses are held at campuses in Wugu, Sanchong, Banqiao Chihlee University of Technology, and Tucheng New Taipei Industrial High School, continuing the high value-for-money learning model. Professional courses cost NT$1,000 per credit, while labor education courses operate on a refundable deposit system upon meeting attendance requirements. Participants enrolling in both course types receive a 50% discount on professional course credits, and additional 20% discounts are available for group enrollments by couples, new immigrants, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and low-income households.
