In Seattle, during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Food Security Ministers' Meeting, Agriculture Minister Chen Chi-chung (陳吉仲) met with ministers and delegates from other economies to discuss topics including food security and climate change. The next day, Chen presided over a symposium on the exchange of Taiwan's agricultural goods and seafood to improve agricultural commerce and collaboration between Taiwan and the United States.

Taiwanese grouper, edamame, and mango were among the high-quality agricultural items Chen specifically suggested, as well as tea, dried fruit, and processed foods. The agricultural goods were also appreciated by American importers and wholesalers in addition to the unanimity of acclaim for the cuisine.

Keith Wagoner, a Republican state senator, stated that he has enjoyed a variety of delectable Taiwanese fruits and intends to introduce them to more Americans so they may learn more about and develop a connection with Taiwanese culture.

In order to improve the sales of Taiwan's agricultural goods and the income of farmers, the Ministry of Agriculture said that it will continue to apply for the import of pineapples and processed pork products from the United States in the future. It will also use a variety of marketing strategies to create new exportable items in the hopes that American consumers would be able to sample more fantastic, delectable fruit from Taiwan.
