Taiwan and India to enhance bilateral collaborations in the field of education

According to The Hindu, the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC), New Delhi, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to encourage student and teacher interaction for the promotion of Chinese and English languages and cultures.

The MoU also includes provisions for the promotion of Mandarin language and culture, the administration of the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL), and the enhancement of bilateral collaborations between EFLU and Taiwanese colleges.

On Friday, EFLU Vice-Chancellor E. Suresh Kumar and TECC Director of Education Division Peters Chen (陳立穎) signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding.

Mr. Suresh Kumar claimed that knowing a foreign language like Mandarin will boost pupils' employment possibilities. Mr. Chen stated that Mandarin was a significant language in Asia and that it was gaining in importance on a worldwide scale. He claimed that students interested in learning Mandarin could apply for a variety of scholarships and immersion programs.

The school plans to invite teachers to come to Taiwan in the end of June this year. For the benefits of the teaching staff, the school will provide salary, accommodation, and office for them.  

In addition, Chinese teachers who are interested in teaching in India are welcome to follow the announcement of "Information on Subsidized Teaching by the Ministry of Education" on the website of the "Taiwan Mandarin Educational Resources Center" website and sign up & plan for selection.
