The National Immigration Agency's Mobile Service Train Arrives in Taoyuan! Witness the Heartwarming Stories of New Immigrants Establishing Roots in Taiwan

To better meet the needs of new immigrants and enhance service efficiency, the Immigration Agency, led by Secretary-General Hsieh Wen-Chung, visited new immigrants in Taoyuan on January 6th via a mobile service train. The visit aimed to understand their adaptation to life in Taiwan and demonstrate the government’s support for new residents. The first stop of the mobile service train was to visit an Indonesian new immigrant, Kuan Mei-lien. Having lived in Taiwan for over 20 years, Mei-lien overcame language barriers by actively learning Mandarin and Hakka. She has earned a multicultural instructor certification and engages in language teaching and interpretation services. Utilizing her expertise in batik, she promotes Indonesian batik art through exhibitions and DIY workshops, fostering Taiwan-Indonesia cultural exchange. The second stop was to meet Yan Jia-mu, the owner of "Xin Wei Wang Jiang Noodles." Originally from Harbin, Jia-mu moved to Taiwan in 2005 after marrying her Taiwanese husband, with whom she has a son. Facing her husband’s stroke and family hardships, Jia-mu demonstrated resilience by opening a Harbin-style restaurant, offering flavors of her hometown that have become a favorite among customers. The final stop was to visit a couple of Hong Kong immigrants, Gu Jun and Su Hua-Zhen. Former accountants, decided to settle in Taoyuan because they loved Taiwan’s living environment. They run a “Mountain Delights” restaurant featuring healthy light meals and Hong Kong-style dim sum. The restaurant emphasizes low-fat, high-fiber ingredients and environmental sustainability, providing reusable eco-friendly tableware. Gu Jun even delivers meals by bike and collects the used tableware himself, showcasing his commitment to sustainability, which was highly praised by the visiting team.

Taoyuan Airport Bans the Use of Electric Suitcases

As electric suitcases gain popularity among travelers as a convenient mode of transportation, safety concerns have also arisen. In preparation for the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday and travel season, Taoyuan International Airport Corporation recently announced new regulations prohibiting using bicycles, scooters, electric suitcases, and skateboards within the terminals. Travelers are required to tow these items by hand or transport them using luggage carts. The airport company also reminds travelers to review relevant safety guidelines before departure and adhere to regulations to avoid disruptions to their journey. With the Lunar New Year holiday approaching, passengers bringing such devices are urged to comply with the rules by towing or transporting them via carts to avoid penalties and ensure a smooth and safe trip.

Choose Sheltered Workshop Products for New Year Gifts: Give While Supporting a Good Cause

To assist individuals with disabilities who are willing to work but face challenges in competitive job markets due to limited employment capabilities, sheltered employment services are provided based on vocational evaluation results. The Ministry of Labor supports local governments in establishing sheltered workshops to offer long-term employment assistance. As of the end of October 2024, there are 167 sheltered workshops nationwide, employing 2,111 sheltered workers. Since sheltered workshops operate on a self-sustaining basis, the Ministry of Labor is calling on the public to support the purchase of products from these workshops during the Lunar New Year gift-giving season. This support helps ensure the sustainable operation of sheltered workshops and stable employment for individuals with disabilities. With the new year approaching, sheltered workshops across Taiwan have launched a variety of exquisite and diverse gift boxes for New Year and Spring Festival celebrations. These are perfect for corporate gifting, sharing with family and friends, or enjoying together during festive gatherings. Supporting sheltered workshop products not only helps others but also offers high-quality and cost-effective gift options, making them an excellent choice for this season of giving.

Japanese Skincare Secrets: Three Habits for Flawless Skin

Japanese women are renowned for their perfect skin, and their beauty is no coincidence—it is the result of consistent skincare and daily wisdom. Many Japanese women believe in using an adequate amount of products to ensure the skin receives sufficient nourishment. Using too little can result in the product being absorbed too quickly, leading to dryness and friction, which can reduce its effectiveness. Another practice is warming the product in the palms before applying it to the face. This helps bring the product to a temperature closer to the skin, reducing irritation and allowing for better absorption. Additionally, they focus on maintaining the health of the stratum corneum rather than excessive exfoliation. Experts highlight that the stratum corneum is the skin’s first line of defense, and over-exfoliating can damage this protective layer, causing skin problems. By adopting these skincare habits, you can help your skin maintain its radiance in daily life.
