Taichung City has opened a new parent-child center in Longjing District, giving children aged 0 to 6 and their caregivers another free space for play and childcare support. Located on the 4th floor of the Longjing District Office, the Longjing Parent-child Center offers free play space, parent-child activities, parenting education, childcare consultation, child development screening, and borrowing services for books, teaching aids, and toys. Fixed-site temporary childcare can also be reserved for parents who need short-term support. Taichung now has 25 parent-child centers.

The site was formerly used to store official documents and archives before being reorganized into a parent-child service base. With the theme “Happy Longjing, red-soil childhood play,” the center incorporates local elements such as peanuts, sweet potatoes, watermelons, wind, and red soil, turning rural life and the natural environment into part of the parent-child activity space.

The center has areas for different ages and activities, including the “Peanut soft nest” exploration area for children aged 0 to 2, the “Wind movement playground” physical activity area for ages 3 to 6, the “Sweet potato little farmer exploration area,” the “Happy farmhouse role-play area,” the “Doudou dragon story room,” the “Red-soil dream workshop,” and the “Little engineer team” art area. Parents can choose spaces based on each child’s age and interests.

In addition to regular play space, the center will hold parenting education activities and child development screening. After reservation, families can use fixed-site temporary childcare, with professional childcare workers caring for children while parents go out briefly or handle errands. Each session accepts 46 parent-child groups, with two afternoon sessions open on holidays.

Longjing Parent-child Center is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is closed on Mondays for disinfection and environmental cleaning.
