June 30: CECC confirmed 56 new cases (55 local, 1 imported)

On June 30, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 56 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 56 new cases, 55 are indigenous and the other one is imported. The CECC also announced five deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 55 indigenous cases, 30 are men and the other 25 are women, aged between under 5 to 89 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between June 20 and June 29, 2021. Regarding those indigenous cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 23, and Taipei City had the second-highest number, at 22. Taoyuan City reported 5 cases each; Kaohsiung City and Miaoli County reported 2 cases each, and Pingtung reported 1 case.

Regarding the five deaths announced today, they were three men and two women between 60 and 79 years old.

Regarding the new imported cases, Case #14875 is an over 30-year-old male from India. He traveled to Taiwan from India on June 27. After arrival, he was quarantined in a group quarantine facility and was tested for COVID-19. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on June 30.

The CECC reported that a total of 1,347,513 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,331,329. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 14,804 cases. Of the 14,804 confirmed cases, 1,172 are imported (Case #14755, originally classified as an indigenous case and announced on June 28, has been re-classified as an imported one based on findings of a related epidemiological investigation); 13,579 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 102 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 648 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 648 deaths, 640 are indigenous cases and the other 8 are imported.
