To welcome the Year of Tiger, the Mayor of Hsinchu City - Lin Chih-Chien (林智堅) announced that the event “Happy New Year in Hsinchu City (新竹市過好年)” invites 5 groups to create 6 sets of lights & Music art installations.

From January 21 to February 28, the East Gate City (東門城) and the moat will be lit up. Besides, there will be a 3-meter-tall light tiger guarding the East Gate City, which displays tiger roar to celebrate the arrival of the new year.

Mayor Lin Chih-Chien said that the 6 sets of lights & Music art installations “Hu Xiao Sheng Feng (虎嘯生風)” combines the element of “Jiu Jiang Feng (九降風)”, which is wind created by Coriolis effect, to make various sounds and music. The public can look for the tiger by following the sounds.

The public can admire installations both day and night. From 5:30 p.m. to 22:00 p.m., one can see the "Light Tiger" resurrecting with sound and light every half an hour.

The exhibition of “Happy New Year in Hsinchu City” starts on January 21 and lasts until February 28. People are welcome to get off at Hsinchu Station or transfer station and take a walk to the exhibition site.
