The Alishan Forest Railway, which began service between Chiayi and Erwanping on December 25, 1912, celebrates its 113th anniversary this year. The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office stated that its traditional December anniversary celebration has been transformed into a festive format, introducing themed train journeys, mountain village dining experiences, and a railway-themed market under the new “Alishan Little Train Cheers” brand.

Starting December 1, passengers purchasing tickets at Alishan Forest Railway stations, except Sacred Tree and Zhushan stations, can collect newly designed festive tickets featuring classic train models such as the Shay steam locomotive, Chung-Hsing train, Xuyue train, and a limited hidden edition.林鐵周年慶期間推出全新設計的「節慶限定款車票」,以歷代經典車型為主題,增添旅客搭乘收藏亮點。(圖/阿里山林業鐵路及文化資產管理處提供)Special edition anniversary tickets featuring classic train designs have been released, adding a collectible highlight for passengers. On December 21, the century-old No. 21 steam locomotive “Hinoki Chiayi Express” will operate special services between Beimen and Chiayi stations.
