The 2025 Taipei Azalea Festival will officially open on March 1, transforming Daan Forest Park into a springtime sea of flowers and offering a vibrant and colorful landscape for residents and visitors. This year&rsquos festival not only showcases a diverse collection of azalea varieties but also integrates expertise from the city government, academic institutions, and professional teams to present a vision of urban greenery coexisting with natural ecology through breeding technology and artistic design.

Within the festival grounds, visitors can admire the "Taoyuan No.1 - Red Rose" and "Taoyuan No.2 - Torch" azaleas, developed by the Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station after 12 years of breeding and selection. These varieties are well-suited for lowland landscapes in northern Taiwan. The "Red Rose" azalea resembles a rose when half-bloomed, and its petals become full and round when fully opened. Meanwhile, the "Torch" azalea, which carries Golden Azalea lineage, has wavy petals and slightly fuzzy leaves, with color variations as it blooms. The Agricultural Research Station aims to stabilize the blooming period through advanced techniques, revitalizing the flower market and allowing the public to enjoy the stunning floral scenery at its peak.030805p1.jpgThe purple-red "Taoyuan No.1 - Red Rose" azalea and the salmon-red "Taoyuan No.2 - Torch" azalea (Image / Source: Taipei City Government Website)

This year&rsquos festival also incorporates environmental sustainability concepts. Some of the festival&rsquos art installations and floral decorations feature materials such as fallen trees, ocean debris, and construction waste, which have been carefully repurposed into artistic and eco-friendly landscape elements. These efforts highlight the city's commitment to resource recycling and ecological restoration.

During the festival, the city government has planned various exciting activities. The "Anson Music Party", held every weekend, will feature performances by Dream Butterfly Band, acoustic singer-songwriter Li Peiwen, and Spanish band Buskavidas, allowing attendees to enjoy the beauty of spring with soothing melodies. Additionally, the "Botanical Sensory Life Workshop" will offer hands-on creative classes such as painting spring wind chimes, crafting thumb pianos, and making floral moss balls, guided by professional instructors to inspire creativity among families and DIY enthusiasts, allowing them to craft exclusive azalea-themed souvenirs.030805p2.jpgSaturday Exclusive!
