Does traveling back and forth for prenatal checkups cause inconvenience for expectant mothers? The Kaohsiung City Government has launched the “Safe Travel for Pregnant Women” subsidy program. Eligible mothers can apply. How much is the subsidy? How to apply? What is the validity period? Parents should take note.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must be pregnant women registered in Kaohsiung, foreign pregnant women married to Kaohsiung citizens, or those assessed as in need by social workers. Vouchers can be used from the time they are received until six months after childbirth.
Subsidy amount
Each pregnancy is eligible for one application. Qualified applicants will receive 28 vouchers worth NT$180 each, covering 14 government-funded prenatal visits. It is recommended to start checkups from week 8 according to the maternal health handbook to protect the health of mother and baby.
Usage rules
Each trip uses one voucher (outbound and return counted separately). No change is given if the fare is below NT$180; any excess must be paid by the user.

How to apply
Eligible applicants should prepare:
- Application form (download, print, and fill from official website)
- Maternal/child health handbook (including name and due date or baby's birth date)
- Identification documents (ID for citizens; ARC or passport and spouse's ID for foreign applicants; authorization documents if applying by proxy)

Application methods
There are three options: apply during prenatal visits, apply in person, or apply online. Pregnant women can choose any one; postpartum applicants can choose in person or online

Participating taxi fleets
Vouchers are only valid for travel to designated medical institutions and must be used with contracted taxi fleets
