The “2025 Beitou Hot Spring Guardian Kannon Festival” will be grandly held from November 29 to 30. This year’s theme, “Double Centennial Celebration,” combines a parade, marketplace events, artistic performances, and blessing rituals, creating the most culturally distinctive annual blessing festival in Beitou. The event originates from local hot spring culture and the belief in the “Hot Spring Guardian Kannon,” symbolizing peace and happiness for the residents of the hot spring region.
The highlight of the first day is the “Yutaki Welcomes Kannon” parade, which will start at 10 a.m. on the 29th from Youhua High School, proceed along Daye Road and Guangming Road to Qixing Street, and end at Qixing Park. Volunteers from the Beitou Hot Spring Museum will also join the procession to bless the city together with residents.
Main event activities will take place from 11:00 to 18:30 on both days at the Xinbeitou Station Plaza and Qixing Park, featuring over 70 market stalls, a vegetarian zone, antique car displays, floral offerings and blessing rituals, as well as the “fortune capsule draw” in collaboration with Tom’s World. For artistic performances, the event has specially invited the “Reipura Opera Troupe,” which collaborates with Japan-Taiwan KAGAYA, to give a cross-border performance as one of the highlights.
In addition, on December 6 and 7, the “Taipei Pilgrimage Tour” cultural experience will be launched, offering eight sessions to guide participants in exploring the religious and historical background of Beitou. Organizers invite the public to seize the weekend opportunity and join this annual blessing celebration.
