In recent years, cross-border online shopping has become increasingly common. From daily necessities to 3C products, many people place orders through international e-commerce platforms. However, as parcel volumes continue to grow, so do the risks of fraudulent customs declarations and scam packages. To better protect personal data, Customs will implement the “Advance Authorization Confirmation” system starting March 1, 2026, applicable to all imported express shipments purchased online by individuals.

Under the new system, once an order is placed on an overseas website, the customs broker will send a customs declaration notification through the EZ Way App. Upon receiving the alert, the recipient must verify that the product name, quantity, and purchase details match their actual order. After confirming the information is correct, authorization can be completed online, allowing the broker to proceed with customs clearance. If the information is accurate, select “Declaration Matches.” If discrepancies are found or identity misuse is suspected, select “Declaration Does Not Match” and contact the broker promptly to correct the details to avoid clearance delays.

Customs officials state that the system helps prevent personal data theft and stops individuals from fraudulently importing prohibited items or sending scam packages under another person's name. To minimize clearance delays, relevant agencies have coordinated with e-commerce platforms, logistics providers, and customs brokers to ensure notifications are sent before goods arrive in Taiwan, enabling recipients to confirm information in advance.

For questions regarding the process or shipment details, recipients may contact Customs offices or the customer service center of Trade-Van Information Services Co. (https://gov.tw/6Rc). Customs also reminds the public to carefully verify product details, quantities, and declared values upon receiving notifications to ensure every cross-border purchase arrives safely and smoothly.
