The Tainan City Bureau of Culture, in collaboration with FOCASA Circus, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre founder Lin Hwai-min, and renowned picture book artist Jimmy, is launching Taiwan&rsquos first permanent circus tent show, Jimmy&rsquos Boy: 100 Acts of Courage. Adapted from Jimmy&rsquos picture book, the show will run for five weeks at the Shui-Jiao-She Cultural Park in Tainan starting from March 28, 2025. The performance will incorporate circus skill experiences and outdoor shows, inviting the public on a magical journey.
A press conference was held on the 5th at Huashan Creative Park in Taipei, where early bird tickets were announced. Tickets purchased now will receive a 12% discount (88% of the original price), and buyers will have a chance to win one of four limited-edition Jimmy souvenirs. The event was graced by Minister of Culture Lee Yuen, Lin Hwai-min, Jimmy, and FOCASA Circus Director Lin Chih-wei, creating a star-studded atmosphere.
Cross-Industry Collaboration to Create Taiwan's Largest Circus Tent
Celebrating its 15th anniversary, FOCASA Circus has teamed up with Lin Hwai-min and Jimmy to push the boundaries of traditional circus entertainment. The event will feature the largest circus tent in Taiwan&rsquos history, towering approximately seven stories high, blending art and circus elements to deliver an immersive performance.
Lin Hwai-min remarked, "Jimmy&rsquos works always capture the beauty and sorrow of life. Expressing his stories through the art of circus will bring audiences a brand-new emotional experience." Jimmy, in turn, expressed his excitement about seeing his characters innovatively brought to life: "I can&rsquot wait to see how young performers interpret my story on stage."
During the press conference, FOCASA Circus showcased two spectacular performances, recreating iconic characters from Jimmy&rsquos books. These included a visually impaired girl&rsquos "balancing act on chair backrests" and Jimmy&rsquos boy performing "acrobatics on an elongated bench," offering the audience a preview of the show&rsquos circus artistry.

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che emphasized the city's longstanding commitment to promoting arts and culture. From the 2023 FOCASA Circus Arts Festival to the 2025 Circus Park, Tainan continues to showcase its cultural innovation. "This event not only integrates local characteristics but also aims to root artistic expression in Tainan, attracting more people to experience the arts."
FOCASA Circus Director Lin Chih-wei expressed gratitude for the support from the Tainan City Government, stating, "We want to present our best work to the people of Tainan. This 15th-anniversary production is a must-see for both children and adults."
