CECC confirms 38 more COVID-19 cases, including 13 domestic cases and 25 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 38 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 38 cases, 13 are domestic and 25 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 4 men and 9 women, aged between under 5 and above 70 years old.

Regarding the 25 new imported cases, they are 8 men and 17 women, aged between around 10 and around 70 years old. 5 of them are from Canada, 3 from USA, Thailand, and India each, 2 from Japan, and 1 from Nigeria, Sweden and China each. The remaining 6 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 11, 2022 to January 24, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,501,288 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,482,563. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,411 cases. Of the 18,411 confirmed cases, 3,429 are imported; 14,928 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
