Liao Ji-Long, now 70 years old, is a courageous individual living with Parkinson’s disease. Diagnosed in late 1999, he was then a newly promoted vice president of a department store. During a meeting, he noticed he couldn’t use a whiteboard marker smoothly, which led to a medical checkup and the diagnosis of Parkinson’s. Liao recalled feeling like he had fallen from heaven to hell, especially when doctors predicted he might become bedridden within 10 years. At just 45 years old, the news was devastating.
After a period of struggle, Liao found strength through his Christian faith and the unwavering support of his family. He shared that the biblical verse "My power is made perfect in weakness" became a guiding light for him. Following his diagnosis, Liao requested a transfer back to Taichung, informed his supervisor about his condition, and began to reorganize his life. There Are Numerous Medications Available for Treating Parkinson's Disease (Photo/Heho Health)
He emphasized the importance of family support in facing illness. His brothers not only accompanied him during exercise but also encouraged him to maintain his physical health. For 10 years, the three brothers ran 10 laps together every week, an experience that helped Liao understand the critical role of exercise in combating the disease.
Liao explained that the key to managing Parkinson’s lies in maintaining sufficient muscle strength. He practices a daily 40-minute brisk walk and strives to enjoy life. He is also committed to helping other patients by actively sharing his experiences. He believes that facing reality courageously, building good relationships with healthcare providers, and informing those around him about his condition can significantly reduce the risk of accidents. The Key to Managing Parkinson's Disease Lies in Maintaining Sufficient Muscle Strength (Photo/Heho Health)

He expressed gratitude for the love of his family and the encouragement of his doctors. Liao hopes to inspire more Parkinson’s patients to step out of the shadows and embrace the beauty of life.
