To ease the financial burden of education on students and families, the Ministry of Education has in recent years continued to advance comprehensive student support measures across all levels of education. These include tuition-free senior high school education, reductions in university tuition and fees, assistance for economically disadvantaged students, student loans, and scholarship programs. Step by step, a student-centered support network has been established to help young people pursue their studies with confidence and achieve stable development. Relevant measures are expected to be reflected in school registration and payment notices after mid-February.

The Ministry of Education explained that at the senior high school level, the government has fully implemented a tuition-free policy covering public and private senior high schools as well as the first three years of five-year programs. This allows families to better anticipate and stabilize education expenses when students enter senior high school, preventing economic factors from affecting educational choices. At the higher education level, through policies aimed at narrowing the tuition gap between public and private universities, students attending private institutions can receive tuition reductions of up to NT$35,000 per year. Economically disadvantaged students may also receive additional assistance of up to NT$55,000 annually.

In addition, the Executive Yuan has approved related special budgets, under which the Ministry of Education has stipulated that public and private universities are not permitted to raise tuition and fees for three consecutive academic years from academic years 114 to 116. It is estimated that approximately 910,000 students per year will benefit, ensuring that students’ financial burdens do not increase while maintaining stable university operations.

In supporting disadvantaged students, the Ministry of Education integrates higher education development programs, tuition reductions, and student assistance schemes in collaboration with universities, helping tens of thousands of students each year to ease economic pressure. The student loan system has also been continuously optimized, with students from families earning under NT$1.2 million annually exempt from interest payments during their studies, and more flexible conditions for deferred repayment after graduation.

The Ministry of Education emphasized that, from tuition-free education and tuition reductions to scholarships and loan support, the government has gradually built a comprehensive student support system. Going forward, policies will continue to be reviewed and refined to accompany young people steadily along their paths of learning and development, laying a solid foundation for both students' futures and national talent cultivation.
