December marks one of the most colorful seasons in Alishan, as rolling seas of clouds and autumn maple leaves transform the mountain landscape. To capture this year-end scenery, Alishan House has launched the seasonal “Alishan Autumn Photography Getaway,” combining accommodation, guided tours, and photography experiences for travelers seeking a slower-paced mountain retreat.

The program is led by renowned nature photographer Huang Yuan-Ming, who guides guests to the Xiaoliyuan (Ogasawara) Observation Platform. Located at an elevation of approximately 2,488 meters, the platform offers a panoramic 360-degree view where visitors can enjoy maple foliage, cloud seas, and even distant views of the Yushan mountain range under favorable weather conditions.

The guided activity takes place in the afternoon. Guests travel via the Zhushan electric shuttle and continue on foot to the observation platform, accompanied by landscape interpretation and practical photography tips. The limited group size allows participants to focus on both the scenery and the subtle changes of light throughout the afternoon.

In addition to the outdoor experience, the package includes accommodation and seasonal dining at Alishan House. Guests can enjoy sunset views and cloudscapes from the hotel’s upper-level viewing areas, along with cuisine inspired by autumn and winter mountain ingredients. Remaining available check-in dates for the “Alishan Autumn Photography Getaway” are December 12 and December 19.
