The Pearl S. Buck Foundation Taiwan (referred to as Taiwan Pearl S. Buck) has been deeply rooted in Taiwan for nearly 60 years, assisting approximately 900 economically disadvantaged new immigrant children. This year, the foundation organized the "Children’s Heart Collaboration—Spring Reunion for Economically Disadvantaged New Immigrant Families" event, allowing beneficiary families to experience the warmth of the festive season. Through educational red envelopes and scholarships, the event encourages children to pursue education and grow in an environment filled with love and care.Xiao Yu (front row, first from the right, fourth position) and all scholarship recipients with honored guests in a group photo (Photo/ Screenshot from Pearl S. An Artist in a Wheelchair: Dreams That Persist Despite Hardship

One of this year’s scholarship recipients, Xiao Yu (pseudonym), has been physically disabled since childhood and relies on a wheelchair. However, she has never given up on her dreams. Last year, her mother suffered a work injury, increasing the family’s financial burden. Despite these challenges, Xiao Yu achieved outstanding academic results and received a scholarship, which not only eased her family’s financial strain but also brought her one step closer to her dream of becoming an artist.

"I hope that one day, I can use my brush to paint a world of my own," said Xiao Yu. Her story is a testament to resilience and perseverance, inspiring many other new immigrant children.

Joining Hands to Support Education and Build a Better Future
