Mid-Autumn cultures from five countries will gather in Taichung's Meicun area on September 19, when the Social Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government holds "Taichung Good Chill: The Moon Is Beautiful". The event features cultural experiences, international food and creative handicraft stalls.
The five-country Mid-Autumn cultural experience is the main attraction. Participants can take part in a QR code quiz and receive promotional gifts after completing the assigned tasks. The women's market will offer Vietnamese pandan Nyonya cakes, specialty desserts, Indonesian banana cookies, ginger tea and creative handicrafts, highlighting cultural exchange through festivals and food.
The event brings together Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea and Thailand, using festival traditions and food to introduce Mid-Autumn customs from each country. The women's market also showcases the empowerment achievements of women and new residents, including food production and creative handicraft businesses.
As of the end of July, Taichung had more than 66,000 new residents, accounting for about 2.4% of the city's population. Their food, languages and festival traditions have become part of local life, adding to Taichung's multicultural character.
The event will be held on September 19 at the Women's Development Base in the Meicun Comprehensive Service Park. Visitors can join the five-country cultural experiences and women's market. Information is available through the Social Affairs Bureau's "Social Love, Warm Taichung" Facebook page, the Taichung Women and New Residents Empowerment Center website and the "Taichung Women Empowerment Station" Facebook page.
