Daan Beach is offering more than swimming this year, with three water activities: pioneer boats, SUP and wing SUP. Spots are limited and age requirements apply, with professional instructors, lifeguards and medical support available for beginners.
The "Fun at Daan Beach" water activities are part of the 2026 Taichung Ocean Tourism Festival. The program also features the completion of a Mazu statue and arts performances, combining marine activities with local culture and arts.
The three activities have different requirements and are open to ages 7 to 60, while wing SUP is available to ages 12 to 60. Registration is by real-name online booking, with a NT$200 deposit per person for each session. The full deposit is refunded after completing the activity.
Daan Seaside Park has suitable coastal scenery and wind conditions for water recreation. Taichung has promoted water activities there since 2013, expanding from kite surfing to family activities, marine education and other water experiences. Equipment and certified life jackets are provided, with professional instruction, water rescue and medical support.
The 2026 Taichung Ocean Tourism Festival will take place on October 4 at the South Beach area of Daan Seaside Park. Online registration for the water activities opened on September 6. Details are available through the designated registration platform.
