The “2026 Zhongshan Fragrant Marathon,” combining natural landscapes, agricultural, and community vitality, will take place in March 2026 in the Zhongshan community of Dongshan Township, Yilan. The organizer stated that this year’s event centers on the concept of “running it, smelling it, tasting it,” opening routes for the first time through pomelo orchards and tea gardens. Runners will race amid blooming pomelo flowers and rich tea aromas, creating a five-sense running experience that integrates smell, taste, and visual scenery.
The event design deeply incorporates Zhongshan’s organic agriculture and local culture. Aid stations will offer five major tea varieties along with local pastries paired with tea, as well as mountain stew dishes, allowing runners to replenish energy while enjoying local flavors. The course links natural attractions such as Xinliao Waterfall Trail, Renshan Botanical Garden, and the Purple Forest. Community traditional music groups, taiko drum teams, and residents will cheer runners on with music and applause, creating a warm and lively race atmosphere.
Race categories include full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K light-pack divisions, with entry fees starting from NT$450. Multiple discount options are available, including a 10% discount for Yingliu members and Yilan residents, and an additional 10% discount for group registrations of four or more, with discounts stackable. Prize money has also been introduced, with champions of the full marathon, half marathon, and 10K categories receiving NT$8,000, NT$5,000, and NT$3,000 respectively.

Finishers will receive a limited-edition “Xiangyou’er” mascot keychain. During the event period, a “Zhongshan Treasure Hunt Points” program will also be launched, encouraging runners to stay or spend within the community to collect points and redeem tea gift sets, mascot figures, or accommodation vouchers. The organizer hopes the marathon will invite more people into the Zhongshan community to experience its unique blend of nature, agriculture, and human warmth through every step.
