Soaring summer temperatures have many people glued to their air conditioning all day, yet plenty complain that even with inverter air conditioners, their electricity bills are still sky-high. One woman reported that her household&rsquos three inverter AC units pushed her two-month electricity bill over NT$7,000. Appliance expert &ldquoMr. 486&rdquo explains that the key to saving electricity lies not just in the model you buy&mdashbut in how you use it.

Inverter air conditioners work by lowering compressor frequency to maintain a stable room temperature, which in theory consumes less power. However, if you immediately set the temperature to 18°C upon entering the room, the AC runs at full power for longer, leading to higher costs. Mr. 486 recommends setting your AC to 25&ndash26°C and using a fan or strong airflow setting to enhance cooling efficiency.Raising the air conditioner temperature by just 1&degC can save about 6% in electricity, effectively reducing energy costs! Worried about leaving the AC on all night? Use the &ldquosleep&rdquo or &ldquocomfort sleep&rdquo mode. This feature adjusts the temperature upward by 1&ndash2°C based on your body&rsquos temperature changes during sleep&mdashhelping you avoid catching a chill and saving up to 6% electricity for every 1°C increase. Also, be sure to close doors when entering or leaving an air-conditioned room to help retain cool air and reduce the compressor&rsquos workload. Mastering small details and your remote control functions can help you enjoy a refreshing summer without breaking the bank.
