Every spring, cherry blossoms bloom in Alishan, attracting large crowds of visitors. To celebrate the flower season, the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency (AFRCH) has launched the "Dancing Cherry Blossoms" themed tour. This exclusive journey features the national treasure, Steam Locomotive No. 31, with Taiwan's only cypress wood carriage, taking visitors on a scenic ride through the Alishan mountains and forests embracing the charm of spring rail travel.

The "Dancing Cherry Blossoms" themed train offers three departures on March 11, March 25, and April 1, with a limited capacity of 100 passengers per trip. The fare is NT$2,999 per person, which includes railway transportation, meals, a professional guided tour, souvenirs, and more, ensuring a fulfilling spring travel experience.

One of the highlights of this tour is a guided exploration led by Alishan ecological photography expert Huang Yuan-Ming, who will take visitors to secret cherry blossom spots. The most anticipated view is the steam train slowly departing from Zhaoping Station, winding through the S-shaped railway tracks and passing through a cherry blossom tunnel as if stepping into a springtime painting. With the train’s whistle, cherry blossoms sway gently in the wind, creating a mesmerizing spring symphony. This scenic rail tour has become one of the classic experiences of the Alishan Cherry Blossom Festival. Additionally, AFRCH is launching a set of limited-edition commemorative tickets, which will be available for purchase soon. These unique collector's tickets carry symbolic meanings of blessings, making them highly valuable for railway enthusiasts and collectors. The set consists of three different designs, each handcrafted, symbolizing happiness, prosperity, and health.
