Visitors can experience a French lifestyle atmosphere without traveling abroad. The "French Lifestyle Festival in Kaohsiung" will be held from May 22 to 24 and will be hosted at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) for the first time. The event integrates music performances, outdoor films, and market activities, creating a cultural experience space that brings together multiple elements. With the upgraded venue, both the scale and content of the event are expanded, offering a richer and more complete experience that is expected to attract more participants.
This year's theme, "Paris Champs-Élysées Symphony Night," features a key visual designed by French illustrator Christopher Boyd. The design blends Kaohsiung's city imagery with French artistic style and includes both daytime and nighttime versions, connecting activities from day to night. Since its launch, the event has consistently attracted large crowds. Last year, the three-day event drew approximately 160,000 visitors, with a total of over 270,000 visitors across two years, demonstrating its growing appeal.
In terms of programming, the outdoor theater and surrounding lawns at Weiwuying will be transformed into an open cultural venue. Activities include music performances, dance experiences, and outdoor films. Performances by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) are scheduled, along with interactive areas for pétanque and football. The diverse range of activities allows participants from different cultural backgrounds to engage and immerse themselves naturally in the atmosphere.
An expanded French-style market will also be featured, bringing together desserts, cuisine, and lifestyle products, along with limited-time dining spaces that incorporate local elements into French-style offerings. Organized by the Kaohsiung City Government and the French Office in Taipei, the event extends cultural experiences into everyday life, making culture more accessible and integrated into daily living.
