Pili Puppetry is joining Jiufen's mountain town for the first time at the 2026 Jiufen Red Lantern Festival. The month-long event features themed light installations inspired by classic characters, together with the main lantern show at Wufankeng Park and nighttime illumination at Jinguashi's Golden Waterfall, adding new highlights to Jiufen after dark.

This year's festival blends Pili Puppetry with Jiufen's mining heritage, religious culture and mountain scenery through lantern displays and light installations, giving the historic streetscape a fresh nighttime look.

Visitors can enjoy weekend lantern walks, Saturday Jinguashi tours and digital treasure-hunt games. Those who complete the stamp collection challenge can redeem a limited-edition Pili lantern and New Taipei Coin discount coupons for participating stores.

The lighting attractions also connect Jiufen and Jinguashi, allowing visitors to experience both the Wufankeng Park lantern show and the illuminated Golden Waterfall in a single evening.

The festival runs through August 17. Guests staying at participating accommodations can also receive limited-quantity qipao experience vouchers, NT$200 airport transfer coupons and Honzan No. 5 Tunnel experience vouchers. Event details are available through New Taipei City's tourism platforms.
