On January 18, the New Taipei City Government launched the nation’s first “Safe Message 4.0 Smart Video Reporting System.” Mayor Hou You-yi stated that the system utilizes automated settings and video functionality to provide more precise and real-time rescue services. He expressed gratitude to the firefighters for their dedication and encouraged them to continue enhancing their ability to protect citizens.

Hou pointed out that since the launch of the "Safe Message" service, over 950,000 messages have been sent. The newly upgraded 4.0 system introduces an intelligent video function, allowing firefighters to initiate real-time video calls via an SMS link. This enables them to assess the scene, provide self-rescue guidance, and accurately pinpoint the rescue location, maximizing the golden rescue time.Mayor Hou You-yi Inspects the Operation Process of the Safe Messaging 4.0 Intelligent Video Reporting System" (Photo/Source: New Taipei City Government Website)

Ahead of Firefighters’ Day on January 19, Hou presented condolence payments and gifts to on-duty personnel, thanking them for their commitment to safeguarding citizens' lives and property. He also highlighted that New Taipei City’s emergency response system has achieved remarkable success. As of this year, the survival rate of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients has increased to 11.68%, with a total of 2,647 patients discharged after recovery—results comparable to those of major international cities.Mayor Hou You-yi Presents Condolence Money and Gifts to Fire Department Personnel, Thanking Them for Their Hard Work in Protecting Citizens (Photo/Source: New Taipei City Government Website)

The Fire Department stated that the upgraded 4.0 system integrates smart technology with practical experience. It allows video communication with callers or those in need of rescue, enabling precise assessment of fire scenes and injuries. Additionally, interactive text and image features enhance rescue efficiency and reduce on-site risks. This innovative measure reinforces New Taipei City's leading position in rescue technology, ensuring a safer and more secure life for its citizens.
