Ireneo Jr. Estoy Muana (艾雷諾), a 36-year-old Filipino migrant worker in Taiwan, was working in a prestigious Taiwan company in 2018. Unexpectedly, before the contract expired in June this year, he suddenly fell into a vegetative state because of tuberculous meningitis which caused hydrocephalus in the brain.
And his wife, Arile Yu Pasulohan Muana (艾莉爾), traveled all the way from the Philippines to Taiwan and planned to bring her husband home. Facing huge medical bills and family expenses, the whole family was reached out by Taiwan charitable organizations and also helped by Ireneo’s kind employer. The local branch of the organizations in the Philippines provided humanitarian aids after the family returned to the country.

After receiving severely ill notice from the hospital in Taiwan, Arile insisted on bringing her husband back to their hometown and looking after him despite the global pandemic outbreak. With the help from the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ireneo’s employer, Arile finally came to Taiwan in October and fulfilled her wish to bring her husband back and celebrate Christmas with their children together.

In addition, Ireneo 's Taiwanese employer actively assisted him in medical treatment and extended his residence permit. He even hired a caregiver to take care of Ireneo for 24 hours a day and purchased necessary equipment for Ireneo such as oxygen machines, suction machines, air mattresses for the convenience of Arile to take care of her husband in the future.
