The sole athlete, 27-year-old Obiena, cleared the 5.75-meter barrier on his second attempt.
Through his successful completion, Obiena also broke the previous record of 5.70 meters established by Yamamoto Seito of Japan at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Along with Jones Inso, Gideon Padua, and Clemente Tabugara Jr., who all earned bronze medals in wushu, the President also congratulated taekwondo competitor Patrick King Perez on his bronze-medal triumph.
