To help individuals with disabilities achieve stable employment, the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor has been working closely with local governments to promote sheltered workshops, providing long-term employment support. As of the end of November 2024, there are 167 sheltered workshops nationwide, employing 2,114 sheltered employees. The Workforce Development Agency encourages businesses and the public to choose cleaning products and services offered by sheltered workshops, thereby supporting their sustainable operations and helping individuals with disabilities secure stable employment.

Year-End Cleaning: Sheltered Workshops as the Best Partner

Year-end cleaning is a traditional practice for many businesses and households. Over 30 sheltered workshops offering cleaning, laundry, and car detailing services are ideal helpers to prepare for the new year. These workshops provide professional services, including home and office cleaning and various laundry solutions, catering to the needs of both businesses and individuals.

In New Taipei City, Ciyou Sheltered Workshop, in collaboration with the Xinlu Foundation, offers high-quality laundry services through multiple outlets across the Greater Taipei area. Beyond basic laundry services, the workshop also produces handmade soaps and scented candles. Since January 2024, the Ciyou Sheltered Workshop has implemented green energy and eco-friendly carbon reduction measures, such as using environmentally friendly materials and recycled plastic bags, making it a preferred partner for green procurement by businesses.Sinlu-Ciyou Sheltered Workshop Switches Clothing Packaging Bags to Eco-Friendly Recycled Plastic Bags (Image from the Workforce Development Agency website)

Other workshops, such as Liangyi Laundry Sheltered Workshop in Taoyuan and Happiness Source Sheltered Workshop in Chiayi, also provide professional laundry services, including washing sweaters, down jackets, and bedding, making them ideal for busy individuals during the annual deep cleaning season.

The services offered by sheltered workshops extend to cleaning tasks, including outdoor public area cleaning and corporate office cleaning. From the Keelung City Disability Welfare Service Center Sheltered Workshop in Keelung to the Meixin Workshop in Kinmen, nearly 20 sheltered workshops offer specialized cleaning services. These workshops cater to the increased demand for year-end cleaning, providing tailored project-based solutions for homes and offices.Sinlu Mobile Task Force - Corporate Cleaning Services (Image from the Workforce Development Agency website)

Combining Charity with Practical Cleaning Needs

In addition to cleaning services, workshops like Achang Cleaning Sheltered Workshop, affiliated with Hechen Enterprise in Miaoli, partner with major paper manufacturers to produce their sheltered-brand tissue paper. Similarly, Little Shell Workshop, run by the Taipei Autism Parents Association, and Ai Blind Tucheng Workshop in New Taipei City produce handmade soaps, combining public welfare with practical cleaning needs. These initiatives allow the public to support a good cause while meeting their cleaning demands.

The Workforce Development Agency calls on businesses and the public to actively choose the services offered by sheltered workshops, working together with individuals with disabilities to create a brighter future.
