The 2025 New Taipei Lantern Festival will be held from February 1 to February 16 at the Happiness Water Park in New Taipei Metropolitan Park. Spanning 16 days and coinciding with the Lantern Festival on February 12, this year’s event is themed “Auspicious Serpent, Let’s PLAY Together”, offering a feast for the eyes and palate in a colorful and creative atmosphere.

Highlights of the Festival
This year’s Lantern Festival features 10 thematic lantern areas and 6 special activities, with contributions from indigenous artist Wu Xiumei. Additionally, the beloved LINE FRIENDS characters, including Minini, will make their debut, bringing extra charm to the event.
- 10 Thematic Lantern Areas:
- Auspicious Serpent Main Lantern: Inspired by the hundred-pace viper, this 12-meter-tall giant serpent combines mesh projection technology to symbolize New Taipei’s vitality and prosperity.
- Colorful Serpent Fun Zone: Vibrant and playful, resembling childhood gummies, this zone creates a sweet and cheerful atmosphere.
- Serpent Shadow Maze: A container-built maze offering interactive games for an immersive exploration experience.
- White Serpent Illusion Zone: Utilizing light projection, this area transforms between day and night for a unique dual effect.
- Wandering New Taipei Zone: Local districts showcase creative lanterns that highlight the diverse charms of New Taipei City.
- Divine Wonders Zone: A prayerful area designed by religious and community groups to embody spiritual blessings.
- Japan-Korea New Year Zone: Featuring iconic lanterns from regions like Kumamoto, Japan, celebrating cultural fusion.
- Let’s PLAY Zone: Interactive drumming activities that spread energy and joy to participants.
- Spring in Jiangnan Zone: A collaborative display by various cities’ religious organizations welcoming the New Year.
- Radiant Welcome Zone: Illuminated by citizen-painted lanterns, this area celebrates community creativity.
