Thanksgiving is around the corner, National Immigration Agency (Chiayi City Service Center) and the Community Development Association of the East District in Chiayi City jointly held a Thanksgiving concert.

The ‘Thanksgiving & Cultural Pluralism’ themed concert was well-liked and heartwarming, inviting a daughter of a new immigrant in Taiwan, Zheng Chu Hong (鄭楚虹), who is studying in the Department of Music, National Sun Yat-sen University, to perform Gan En De Xin (感恩的心) and Por una Cabeza (女人香). The concert was to express gratitude to new immigrants who contribute to cultural pluralism in Taiwan and Taiwan society.

Zhou Chao Fen (周朝芬) is a new immigrant from China, her daughter Hong Shan Yu (洪姍妤) also participated in the concert this time. “My family wasn’t wealthy enough to give me a chance to learn playing the piano when I was young so that I channeled my resources to my daughter,” says Zhou Chao Fen.

Saito Takaki (齊藤孝貴) from Peru shared how foreigners celebrate Thanksgiving. She said that Thanksgiving is a heartwarming time for a family reunion and enjoying a turkey dinner among relatives and friends.

The Chief of Chiayi City Service Center, Huang Yan Xun (黃艷薰), says that “I hope such a special concert with music and gourmet food would bring new immigrants of different nationalities together.”
