The short film competition themed on regional revitalization has opened for submissions again this year. “Youth Returning Home – 2026 Regional Revitalization Short Film Competition” is now accepting entries, with a submission deadline of June 10, 2026. The competition focuses on local people, industries, and cultural stories, encouraging creators to document regional transformation and development through video.

This year’s event is organized by the New Taipei City Government in collaboration with Keelung City, Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, and Taichung City. The expanded scale allows more cross-city participation and offers opportunities for diverse local experiences to be seen.

The competition continues the “proposal-first, production-later” model. Participants only need to submit a proposal for the preliminary review, and selected entries will proceed to filming with access to guidance resources, lowering participation barriers. The top prize reaches NT$100,000, while selected proposals receive NT$5,000. Prize categories such as merit awards, excellence awards, and campus newcomer awards have also been adjusted.

Filming themes have broadened to include Indigenous, Hakka, and new immigrant cultures, as well as military dependents’ village culture this year. According to the schedule, preliminary results will be announced on July 1, 2026, final submissions are due by September 14, and the award ceremony will take place on October 24, followed by touring screenings from late October to late November.
