The Ministry of Transportation recently announced the official launch of the "TPASS 2.0 Public Transport Frequent User Cashback Program," with registration now open. Eligible users can begin receiving cashback starting March 25, 2025, further encouraging public transport usage.

According to statistics from the Directorate General of Highways, since the TPASS policy was implemented in July 2023, 27 monthly pass schemes have been introduced across 20 counties and cities nationwide. Public transport usage has gradually increased, with significant growth in the use of rail transport and public bicycles. To further boost public transport adoption, the TPASS 2.0 policy introduces cashback incentives for frequent users of electronic tickets, including medium- and long-distance highway buses, aiming to attract more users.

Cashback Program Overview:

TPASS 2.0 offers cashback for registered electronic ticket users who take public transport 11 times or more per month:

★ 11–30 rides per month: 15% cashback.
★ More than 31 rides per month: 30% cashback.

Additionally, to thank users for their support, the government is introducing an exclusive TPASS 2.0 card. Users who obtain and register the card by March 31, 2025, and meet the cashback criteria before the end of the year will receive an additional 10% cashback. Regular users of rail transport (TRA, Taipei MRT, New Taipei Metro) who take at least 11 rides per month can enjoy an extra 2% cashback.Cashback Conditions (Photo: Courtesy of Ministry of Transportation Website)

How to Participate:

Users must first register at the TPASS official website (https://tpass.thb.gov.tw). From February 2025, ride counts will be accumulated starting the day after registration, and cashback can be claimed beginning on the 25th of the following month. The TPASS 2.0 card can be pre-ordered at multimedia kiosks in the four major convenience store chains or purchased at MRT stations. Starting March 25, 2025, users can claim cashback by using the card at convenience stores or Taipei Metro recharge machines.Key Dates and Information (Photo: Courtesy of Ministry of Transportation Website)

Supporting Carbon Reduction:

The Ministry of Transportation emphasized that the TPASS policy not only facilitates commuting but also promotes energy savings and carbon reduction. In the future, a carbon footprint monitoring platform will be established, allowing TPASS members to track their carbon emissions and contribute to environmental sustainability.
