Tamsui enters pumpkin season in May. Visitors can go to Tunshan Village to see a pumpkin tunnel more than 400 meters long and buy chestnut pumpkins depending on on-site sales. The trellis farm is open until the end of May. It has 9 tunnels, chestnut pumpkins, and more than 30 ornamental pumpkin varieties. Visitors may enter for free but should not pick pumpkins, fruit, or vines.

The pumpkin tunnel is located on farmland along Section 5 of Danjin Road in Tunshan Village, Tamsui District. It was originally a chestnut pumpkin farm and has become a seasonal visiting spot as pumpkins grow across the trellises. The tunnel includes watermelon-pattern pumpkins, warted pumpkins, and Wufu pumpkins, with stripes, bumps, and layered shapes different from common edible pumpkins.The tunnel has edible chestnut pumpkins and more than 30 ornamental pumpkin varieties in different shapes and colors. Visitors who want to take photos of the pumpkin trellises or buy chestnut pumpkins should check the season schedule and on-site sales. The Tamsui District Farmers’ Association has set up a photo wall this year. Its supermarket also sells pumpkins and related products, with some pumpkin items offered at up to 20% off.

The pumpkin tunnel is not only a photo spot. It also shows how Tamsui chestnut pumpkins are grown during the season. Trellis cultivation helps improve airflow, reduce pests and diseases, and make harvesting easier. The farmers’ association has guided farmers to use trellis planting and open production areas to visitors, increasing contact with local farm products and purchase opportunities.

Because the open area is still farmland, visitors should avoid stepping on crops, pulling vines, or picking pumpkins without permission, so later harvests and other visitors are not affected. Visitors may also check the weather before going, as farm paths can be harder to walk on after rain.
