CECC confirms 2 more COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the US and Myanmar
CECC confirms 2 more COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the US and Myanmar

On October 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The cases arrived in Taiwan from the US and Myanmar. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the two new imported cases, they are an over 20-year-old Taiwanese female and an over 60-year-old Taiwanese male. They arrived in Taiwan from the US and Myanmar. The two Taiwanese nationals arrived on October 6 and September 24, respectively.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,801,349 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,783,802. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,349 cases. Of the 16,349 confirmed cases, 1,710 are imported; 14,585 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 846 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 846 deaths, 834 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases.
