Fraudsters have recently impersonated licensed employment agencies by posting fake placement videos on TikTok and pressuring workers to transfer money. Employers urgently looking for caregivers may also be deceived and could face legal penalties if they unknowingly hire undocumented workers.

The scam typically promises quick job transfers or guaranteed employment. Accomplices then post staged videos showing workers being taken to new employers, creating the illusion of successful placements. Victims are later instructed to transfer large sums to personal bank accounts under claims such as "only one position left."

The risk also extends to employers. Scammers may claim they can quickly arrange a live-in caregiver and request placement fees or deposits in advance. Besides financial losses, employers who fail to verify the agency and worker's legal status may face legal liability for illegal employment.

To avoid fraud, migrant workers and employers should follow the "Five Don'ts, Three Dos" guidelines: do not trust unsolicited offers, rush into payments, sign unclear documents, hand over important identification, or accept illegal employment. Always verify the agency's identity and recruitment process before proceeding.

People can verify licensed agencies through the Private Employment Service Agency Inquiry System of the Ministry of Labor. If asked to transfer money to a personal account or pay unclear fees, stop the transaction immediately, keep all records, and contact the 1955 Labor Consultation and Complaint Hotline or local labor authorities for assistance.
